People gathered together on the street, in public venues, and even in their own rooms of their house, like we see here in the Sitting Room at Wheatland. New for 2025, one of Buchanan’s settees now sits closely by his 1865 Chickering piano, evoking a sense of family and friends gathered near the piano while perhaps his niece, Harriet Lane, played music.
